Everyone Has Their Worms: Apple is bitten by the recall bug
November 26, 2008
A recent post on Fierce Wireless rumors that Apple has ordered a recall for their iPhone 3-G charger. Apple recalled the new, ultra compact A/C power adapter warning that some of the chargers are faulty and potentially dangerous. The two-pin, USB power adapters at issue were distributed with the iPhone in the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico and several Latin American countries.
Apple reports that the metal prongs on the charger can break off possibly leading to electric shock. This news comes as Apple is trying to get past earlier problems plaguing the iPhone 3G giving it negative publicity. The most notable of these were the alleged problems connecting to AT&T Mobility’s HSPA 3G network.

Month-to-Month: Verizon jumps on pay-as-you-go
November 21, 2008
A bombshell report on the US Telecom Daily Lead (www.smartbrief.com) revealed that wireless big-hitter, Verizon, is rolling out a no-contract, month-to-month service plan. Verizon’s plan will be offered nationwide.
According to Sprint Connection this turns up the heat on Sprint and other competitors.
The catch? Yes, customers get a no-strings-attached plan, but phones offered through Verizon will be sold at full retail price. No discounts, but also no early-termination fees if they decide to drop the service.
Sprint Connection explains the change as an outgrowth of consumer complaints and an FCC inquiry into termination fees by wireless companies.
Verizon is quoted saying, “The new month-to-month agreement is an extension of the company’s overall commitment to delivering its customers quality products and services over the nation’s most reliable wireless network, while providing the industry’s best customer service…“

Wholesalers discovered that express delivery companies have improved ground service efficiency so trucks are comparable to air.
The largest overnight delivery company in the U.S., FedEx Corp., showed a 2% drop in air shipments starting in the first quarter 2001 at its Indianapolis International Airport operation, second only to the FedEx main hub in Memphis, Tenn.
A post on SM SmallBiz reveals a CIBC World Markets-Toronto report that shows the increase in fuel costs has tripled the amount it costs to ship standard containers. SM SmallBiz offers a list of helpful ways to cut shipping costs including: electronic postage, timing shipments, and consolidating deliveries.
